recorded on a bridge in khao sok national park in thailand at sunset's end on a hot day in january 2000, then time-stretched by 88%, is the source file that plays through this whole piece. it found its place when dima zverev asked me for a piece for radio morpheus in moscow, who “broadcast dreams in all their audio displays, musical reflections on the topic of sleep, somnambulistic audio performances, the culture of dreams”.
the bridge - between wakefulness and sleep, remembrance and oblivion, memory and its loss, dreams and other realities, the conscious, the unconscious and the subconscious, being and disappearing, here and there, life and death. this is music to slumber to. decomposed in zug switzerland from march to june 2020 while caretaking for parents nearing the ends of their respective cycles.
